Claesson Koivisto Rune was founded in Stockholm in 1995 by Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. They started as an architectural office but soon became multi-disciplinary, which in their case means that they practice both architecture and design with the same priority.

Amongst their commissions are houses such as the Sfera Building in Kyoto, interiors such as the Operakällaren gourmet restaurant in Stockholm, as well as designs for manufacturers such as Cappellini and Iittala. Their works have earned numerous awards and, among other distinctions, they were honored for being the first Swedish architects ever to exhibit in the international section of the Venice Architecture Biennale (2004).

From time to time they have been asked whether they have a design philosophy, or a set of rules, under which they work. Maybe, possibly – when looking at their work from the outside – there is some sort of clear line that reads through their projects, a recognizable design DNA. If so, fine. However – they point out that as they see it from the inside – ‘our work is without any clear direction. The only things that are important to us are to develop, improve and never repeat’.

The Eve bracelet was awarded the 2008 Design S/Swedish Design Award.

Aluminum is a fantastic material. Strong. Lightweight. Beautiful. Often employed in technical constructions and industrial formed and manufactured, but seldom seen in a context where aluminum’s beauty becomes apparent.

A typical application for aluminum is extruded profiles. Usual products manufactured using the technique are, for example, window frames or radiator fins in electrical equipment.

The bracelet Eve for Collection Pascale is formed of extruded aluminum from Sapa Profiler. By rotating the raw extrusion and cutting it at different angles, a large number of varying dimensions are made. In addition, we choose several variations for the surface treatment (anodizing). Despite the fact that the manufacturing process is entirely industrial and the raw material formed via a single tool the result is a jewellery series where each piece differs from the next – each bracelet is unique.
